Checking your Pulse
You can check your pulse anytime, anywhere - here's a few different ways to check your pulse. Choose which method is most comfortable to you. Once able to find your pulse check a partners.

Four Square Graphic Organizer Activity
Students will choose a vocabulary term from the left column of the vocabulary exercise and create a four square graphic organizer. An example is below:

Tea Party: Target Heart Rate Activity
Students will mingle and introduce themselves with the role they have been given.
*Remember Maximal Heart-rate=220-(age) Optimal Heart-rate=.75X Maximal Heart-rate

Exercise with Correlating Heart Rate
Student will be placed into 6 groups, 3 groups will be placed into the following exercises; Stairs, Running, and Jumping Jacks.
Students will then do these aerobic exercises to a metronome at 30 beats per minute for 30 seconds. After each set the metronome will increase 15 beats until it reaches a total of 90 beats per minute. After each 30-second activity students will record their heart rate on an individual graph.
The 3 groups will be placed into the following exercises; Sit-ups, Push up, and Flex hang. Students who are preforming these anaerobic exercises will try to perform the entire 30-second block each time. They to will record their heart rate on an individual graph. Students will then share their finding with a person from the opposite type of exercise.
